Pierson

The community of Pierson is located in the Southwestern corner of Manitoba only 8 kilometers from the Saskatchewan border and 19 kilometers north of the US border. The town of Pierson and the surrounding municipality are now amalgamated into the Municipality of Two Borders.

Pierson School is a Kindergarten to Grade 12 facility with around 80 students. The enrolment may be small, but that gives students a great opportunity to have a lot of individual attention from their teachers. This school offers a very unique opportunity to really get to know everyone in their school.

School teachers and staff members work as a team to put their students first. To learn more about one student’s experiences during her stay in Pierson, read “5 Months in Canada” by Jade Hsu Cavsin, a student from Brazil.

The vision statement of Pierson School is this: To prepare our students for the future through academics, practical experiences, good citizenship, extra-curricular, and individual activities. This can only be accomplished with the support of students, parents, advisory council and the community. Our focus is to provide a quality education and positive learning experiences.

The community has some notable events throughout the year. In October, the Pierson Carnival of Crafts welcomes over 80 craftspeople to sell their wares to an estimated 1300 customers. This event has been taking place for over 30 years.

In April, the community hosts an indoor rodeo which brings cowboys and cowgirls into town to compete in various rodeo events such as saddle bronc, bull riding and ladies barrel racing. The competition is tough and fans are truly entertained by the participants.

The Municipality of Two Borders welcomes international students to the area.
