Souris is a picturesque town located on the Souris River, only 40 minutes from the city of Brandon. Tourists visit Souris every summer to enjoy the camping, the scenery and the friendly atmosphere. Souris is the home to the famous Souris Swinging Bridge, Victoria Park, Bird Sanctuary and the local Agate Rock Pits. Souris is also the location of a beautiful golf course and a brand new community swimming pool for recreation in the summer and a full recreation complex for winter sports including curling and skating rinks.

The town of Souris is a member of the Southwest Regional Immigration Committee. The committee is comprised of eight communities and municipalities within the southwest region of Manitoba. These communities have all come together with the same purpose in mind; to attract and retain immigrants from around the globe. Souris School welcomes around 500 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 into an environment that encourages character building and team spirit. The team leaders are Principal, Mr. Bob Young and Vice Principals: Mr. Glenn Wallmann and Mrs. Leanne Rolfe.

Souris School is very proud of their athletic teams with many provincial championships to their credit. Many students have been awarded sports scholarships to help them further their educational careers.

The school offers regular curriculum which includes the core courses of Math, Sciences, English, Computer Media and Business Courses. In recent years, the school has added an Arts room and Woodworking shop to offer new skills to the students. Drama class has been a welcome addition to the curriculum and produced many great memories for kids and families alike. Students practice their drama skills in a “major” school production each year. The Band and Jazz Band classes allow students to practice and play together whilst experiencing the joy of music.

Congratulations to the staff and faculty at Souris School for their continued commitment to excellence in education.
