Killarney
In Killarney the global economy is at your fingertips, while the beach and the golf course are in your backyard. Blessed with natural beauty and urban amenities Killarney is ideally located in central Canada. The community is situated on a beautiful lake that is a great place for swimming, boating and fishing in the summer and snowmobiling, skating and ice fishing in the winter. Also appealing is its beautiful 18 hole golf course and brand new recreation complex.
Killarney is a vibrant and active community. The town recently hosted the Ladies Provincial curling championships and coming up this summer, Killarney will be the site of the Seniors 55+ games. The town also participates in the Communities in Bloom program and hosts a wonderful summer fair. These events are a great testament to the many volunteers in the community that are always up to the challenge of planning and organizing such large activities.
Killarney School
Killarney Collegiate Institute, with a student enrolment approaching 500 and approximately 30 teaching staff is one of the largest K-12 school in rural Manitoba.
Principal Terry Beazely, his staff and students have been very busy of late, hosting two provincial championships in one month! The Provincial High School AA Hockey Championships were held March 11-13th. The Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders used home ice to their advantage and were crowned provincial champions. Congratulations to the team for a great season. The following week was the Boys’ Provincial Basketball Championships. Killarney captured a silver medal. A great finish to a wonderful season. KCI has a full band program. Several students from the Killarney band program were selected to play in the Westman Honor Band. Selected students join others from the Westman area to perform in a number of communities. This year, all three levels of the honor band will perform with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra in May. What a great achievement for these students.
Killarney is a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
