“The Land of the Vikings” was originally settled by Scandinavian people, which is reflected in the many unique areas and family names. A diverse blend of ethnic backgrounds now represents the area. Erickson is located just south of Riding Mountain National Park – a beautiful natural setting. At the south end of Riding Mountain National Park is Clear Lake which is fabulous for swimming and fishing in the summer. The town of Wasagaming has many shops and restaurants that cater to tourists and locals alike. There are many lakes in the region for people to enjoy all year long. The rolling hills and valleys surrounding Erickson provide an idyllic place for farming and rural life. Erickson CollegiateErickson Collegiate is a small grade 7-12 school (145 students). Principal, Graham Edwards, Vice Principal, Leanne Peters and their staff are committed to providing a safe and positive learning environment that fosters respect, responsibility, and excellence. The school offers a variety of courses to meet the needs of its students. Students can take all their required courses for graduation and choose from a number of optional programs including: a fabulous food and nutrition program, photography, agriculture and horticulture courses. Erickson has its own kitchen and canteen facilities and students in the program provide catering services for various events in the division. There is also a school greenhouse where students grow plants and then plant them to beautify the school.
